Some helpful entries for genealogists

The church records for Ochiltree in Ayrshire for 1704, show the baptism of a member of the famous family of Something, George, whose father was the Clan Chief, What-ye-Call-Him Something of Mains of Barskilling:


The theory that the Somethings are related to the Shropshire Thingmybobs cannot be discounted although another member of the family is recorded in the 1851 Census for Colmonell, Ayr:



Is also, of course, occurs as a first name, especially common in the Wicked family. cf. "Something Wicked this way comes" with which the Bard announces the arrival of a member of the family.
