One of our junior members, Julian Tristan Zrenner, has sent in a snap of a coat of "House Arms" on an old patrician house in Landshut, the twin town of Elgin and capital city of Niederbayern. This house was built between 1250 and 1300, and has been an hotel for about 500 years. The bend is described in German as 'Flammenschnitt' or "flame cut". The faint date of 1475 raises the possibility that the shield commemorates the marriage that year at St Martin's Church, Lanshut, of the Duke Georg the Rich of Bavaria-Landshut to Jadwiga, daughter of the King of Poland.
