Today, 7th April 2020 has been designated world health day so this is a good opportunity to show some medical heraldry at a time when we are all so grateful for the work of the medical profession.
Here is the coat of arms, granted in 1900, to the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
The Royal Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow was granted arms in 1910:
In 1962, the Royal Faculty gained collegiate status and became the Royal College of Pysicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, it then re-matriculated the same arms in 1963 so it is very interesting to compare the different styles of painting.
