An unexpected conclusion to this Parish Register entry for Patrick Cheyne & Sophia Garioch, 25 June 1720, added in different handwriting: "...Contracted in order to Marriage but by the mutual consent of both Parties... the match was broke off. Ha ha ha ha! He he he!"
