Another rock as crest...

In addition to the Earl of Stair, another Knight of the Thistle of the previous generation who had "a rock proper" as crest, was Field Marshall Earl Haig of Bemersyde. 

The painting of his arms was done in volume 24 of the PRAABS, during the reign of Herald Painter Graham Johnston and is a magnificent example of the painter's art.
