Feast of St Petronius - Patron of Bologna

King James VIII and Queen Clementina attended Mass for the feast of San Petronio. 4th October 1722; afterwards he watched the Palio and touched for the King’s Evil. His sister Mary had also done this as late as 1714 but it continued in France for another 100 years.

The coats of arms surrounding the scene are, from left to right:
Bolognetti, Grassi, Pepoli, Roversi, Albergati (Gonfaloniere), Malvezzi, Aldovrandi, Tanari and Segni.
