There is rather a good short article by the excellent heraldic artist, Ioannis Vlazakis, in e-Volta. Many of us have had the privilege of having our arms painted by Ioannis and he kindly undertook the commission to paint the arms of Fra' Matthew Festing, the former Grand Master of the Order of Malta who was presented with the painting by the Countess of Mansfield on behalf of the Scottish members of the Order at a private dinner at Edinburgh Castle in 2017.
