Today marks the centenary of the death of the great Scottish physicist and ballistics expert, Sir Andrew Noble of Ardmore and Ardardan Noble 1st Baronet KCB FRS. He matriculated twice - once in 1902 on receiving a KCB and again in 1904 when he was created a baronet. For his second matriculation, Sir Andrew took the opportunity to recover the undifferenced arms of his ancestor, Robert Noble of Ferme, a fifteenth century Baillie of Dumbarton.
